Kilrush Credit Union Wins Best Innovation Project for Biodiversity Garden at Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre!
Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre is delighted to congratulate Kilrush Credit Union (KCU) on their outstanding achievement at the 2024 All Ireland Credit Union Awards. KCU was awarded “Best Innovation Project” for their incredible work on the Biodiversity Garden, a collaborative initiative that has transformed part of our grounds into a flourishing haven for biodiversity.
Designed by the talented Shirley Lyons, the Biodiversity Garden was brought to life through a partnership involving Kilrush Credit Union, the Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre, and Youthreach participants from the College of FET Kilrush Campus. A once neglected corner of our courtyard area is now a vibrant space where native wildflowers thrive, supporting local flora and fauna while promoting sustainability.
This recognition is a proud moment not only for Kilrush Credit Union but also for everyone involved in bringing this project to life. Being honoured at a national level underscores the innovation and collaboration that made the Biodiversity Garden a reality.
Celebrating National Recognition
The 2024 All Ireland Credit Union Awards was held on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, and spotlighted the achievements of Credit Unions across Ireland. Kilrush Credit Union was nominated in two categories and secured the Best Innovation Project award – an incredible accomplishment for our small corner of West Clare. Special credit is due to Claire Neylon of Kilrush Credit Union, whose vision, focus, and determination were key to driving this project forward.
At Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre, we are thrilled to have been part of this collaborative effort, which reflects our shared commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community enrichment. This award not only recognises the hard work of all involved but also highlights the potential for impactful partnerships that benefit both people and the environment.
